Academy Programs

U7 Academy

(Players in 1st grade for the 2026-27 season)

The U7 Academy is designed to help improve young players’ skills and confidence with a soccer ball.  With the help of licensed soccer trainers, children are taught the proper methods of dribbling, receiving, and basic technical skills.  Beginning at the end of the season, we introduce team concepts to help players grow and develop. The training sessions are age-specific to the U7 player, which allows for challenging development but makes the learning process as enjoyable for the young player as possible.

This program will train through the summer, fall (middle of August to the end of October), and spring (middle of March to the end of May), beginning the Monday after the July 4th holiday. Summer training will be on Mondays and Wednesdays from 5:30-6:30 pm. Academy training during the fall and spring will be held once a week (taking holidays off) on Mondays from 5:30-6:30 pm, so players can additionally train once a week with their recreation team. There will be 8 games each season.

The fees for the U7 Academy are $315 for the year.  This includes approximately 30 training sessions, an Academy training uniform, and the recreation player fees. An optional and additional fee for winter training during January and February will also be available.

Registration will be limited to the first 80 participants, so don’t wait to register.

U8 Academy

(Players in 2nd or 3rd grade for the 2026-27 season)

The CMS U8 Academy is designed to develop a young soccer player’s skill and confidence with a soccer ball.  The Academy focuses on the individual skills learned in the U7 Academy and on the player’s role within team concepts.  Our licensed soccer trainers instruct players in the proper methods of dribbling, receiving, passing, and basic technical skills. The training sessions are age-specific to the U8 player, ensuring growth and development while making the learning process fun.

This program will train through the summer, fall (middle of August to the end of October), and spring (middle of March to the end of May), beginning the Monday after the July 4th holiday. Summer training will be on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6:30-7:30 pm. Training during the fall and spring will be held twice a week (taking holidays off), once as an Academy on Mondays from 6:30-7:30 pm, and once a week with the player’s team comprised of other Academy players.

The Academy Team training day will be determined by the Academy Coach, but will be on either Wednesday or Thursday evening. There will be 8 games each season. Games are scheduled on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. Teams will usually be scheduled for one game a week, but could be scheduled for two games a week on occasion.

The fee for the U8 Academy is $450 for the year.  This includes approximately 50 training sessions, an Academy training uniform, and the recreation player league fees. An optional and additional fee for winter training during January and February will also be available.

Players who are currently in 1st, 2nd, or 3rd grade.

Players need to come to all trainings and practices with a marked soccer ball and a water bottle.

Maybe. Players wanting to play on the same team as a friend or neighbor MUST have a parent volunteer as a coach. Requests to play together will be considered ONLY if a parent will coach. Every effort will be made to accommodate friend requests, but requests cannot be guaranteed.

All-girls teams are only available to participants starting at the 2nd Grade age group (age 7 and older). You must select “All Girls” in the registration system or the league will assume you want a coed team.

Teams have one to two practices per week and 8 games per season in both the fall and spring, for a total of 16 games during the full year program.

Fall season games are scheduled on Thursdays, Fridays (typically 5:45 and 6:30pm) and Saturdays (typically in the a.m.) starting in late August and ending in late October.

Spring season games are scheduled on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from late March to early June.  Schedules are typically available two weeks prior to season start.

Coaches set their own practice times and locations. Coaches will notify players/parents of practice schedules.

Parents are encouraged to support their players and help create a positive environment for learning and fun. Please connect with your coach to see how you can best support them and the team.

Games are held in Herriman, South Jordan, and Riverton on Thursday and Friday evenings, as well as Saturday mornings or afternoons.

Yes. The number of players on rosters is limited and cannot be exceeded. Please check with your coach prior to registration. Every effort will be made to accommodate coach requests, but requests cannot be guaranteed.

Coaches are allowed to submit a roster with the names of players. The club cannot “link” up stray team members.  These rosters are guaranteed ONLY IF the players register before July 15th, when registration closes.

Please make sure you enter the correct information during registration. Age Group Coordinators organize teams using the information you provide, taking into consideration team size and age group guidelines. Every effort will be made to accommodate coach and friend requests you have listed, but requests cannot be guaranteed. We cannot make changes to rosters once teams are finalized.

No refunds are available after registration. Exceptions may apply for extreme circumstances, such as league cancellations due to unforeseen events.

Don’t worry about uniform sizes. Uniforms are pre-ordered in bundles and the coach will distribute them as needed.

We have discussed this extensively. It is not logistical. We cannot collect 2200 uniforms at the end of the season, or wash and organize, and account for missing ones, the next season.

Uniform pieces get lost.  They are worn by younger players to school, to the store, and on vacations. They are worn and stained. We do not want to offer that to new players next year.  We discussed a “Jr. Jazz” style jersey.  Still not logistical.  They are thick and hot when worn outside during games.

We would have to print numbers and 2 logos on both sides.  More expensive than a full uniform set.  We ARE looking into collecting jerseys and shorts to offer as a donation to those who want to travel internationally and share the sport of soccer with kids in other countries.  Look for info!

You will be contacted by your coach in mid-August for the fall season and mid-March for spring. If you have not heard from your coach by then, please email your age group coordinator.

Many of our academy players try out for competitive teams. We encourage those who are trying out to wait until after tryouts to register for the academy. If your child is selected for a team, you will join the competitive program. If your child is not selected, we encourage players to join the academy for one more year or transition to rec teams.
