Copper Mountain Soccer® offers all youth the chance to have fun, build friendships, and develop soccer skills in a safe, positive environment. Our Recreation program emphasizes participation, learning, and personal growth over winning, helping players build teamwork, sportsmanship, and confidence on and off the field.
Program Overview
Recreation Soccer is open to players ages 3 through 18. Teams practice weekly and play 8 games per season in both the fall and spring, totaling 16 games for the year. Full-year registration fees are $105 if registered before June 15 and $120 afterward, which includes a uniform, a ball, and a year-end t-shirt. Spring-only registration is also available for $75, covering 8 games/practices, a uniform, a ball, and a t-shirt.
Games are scheduled on Thursday and Friday evenings and Saturday mornings or afternoons, with locations in Herriman, South Jordan, and Riverton. The program is intentionally less travel-intensive than competitive leagues, allowing players to enjoy soccer close to home.
Purpose & Philosophy
Recreation Soccer focuses on learning the game, enjoying play, and developing life skills such as teamwork, communication, and sportsmanship. Younger age groups often participate in “no scores / no standings” games to reduce pressure and create a fun, supportive environment.
Learn soccer fundamentals in a supportive and fun environment that builds confidence.
If you're ready for more focused training and competition, consider joining our Competitive Soccer program.
Everyone plays! Rec soccer focuses on fun, teamwork, and equal time for all players.
Grow friendships, confidence, and resilience while learning to work together as a team.
Early bird registration for the full year runs May 1–June 15, and regular registration continues through July 15. Spring-only registration opens January 1 and closes February 15. Please note that no refunds are available after registration, and certain situations, such as severe weather or other unforeseen events, may affect scheduling.
Recreation Soccer is the perfect starting point for players of all ages and abilities, providing a foundation for growth, enjoyment, and lifelong love of the game. Families can visit our “Coach’s Corner” on the Recreation page for age groups, roster limits, and additional program details.
The annual Copper Mountain Soccer® (CMS) fee is $120 per child. Early bird price is $105 before June 15th. This fee is so low because we believe passionately in offering the most affordable price possible for quality youth soccer in the State of Utah.
The full-year fee includes both Fall and Spring season registration, a player uniform, and a soccer ball. You will need to purchase cleats and shinguards (required).
*Personal checks, cash, Venmo, Visa, and MasterCard are accepted.
Full-year registration includes a uniform, a soccer ball, and a fun year-end t-shirt. Spring-only registration also includes these items.
Recreation Soccer is open to players ages 3 through 18. Age groups are organized by birthdate to ensure fair play and developmentally appropriate experiences.
Maybe. Players wanting to play on the same team as a friend or neighbor MUST have a parent volunteer as a coach. Requests to play together will be considered ONLY if a parent will coach. Every effort will be made to accommodate friend requests, but requests cannot be guaranteed.
All-girls teams are only available to participants starting at the 2nd Grade age group (age 7 and older). You must select “All Girls” in the registration system or the league will assume you want a coed team.
For transportation convenience, participants are grouped by neighborhood public elementary school boundary. On the registration form, please list the public school boundary where you would like your child to participate. Do not list private schools, preschools, home school or charter schools.
Teams have one to two practices per week and 8 games per season in both the fall and spring, for a total of 16 games during the full year program.
Fall season games are scheduled on Thursdays, Fridays (typically 5:45 and 6:30pm) and Saturdays (typically in the a.m.) starting in late August and ending in late October.
Spring season games are scheduled on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from late March to early June. Schedules are typically available two weeks prior to season start.
Coaches set their own practice times and locations. Coaches will notify players/parents of practice schedules.
Parents are encouraged to support their players and help create a positive environment for learning and fun. Please connect with your coach to see how you can best support them and the team.
Games are held in Herriman, South Jordan, and Riverton on Thursday and Friday evenings, as well as Saturday mornings or afternoons.
Yes. The number of players on rosters is limited and cannot be exceeded. Please check with your coach prior to registration. Every effort will be made to accommodate coach requests, but requests cannot be guaranteed.
Coaches are allowed to submit a roster with the names of players. The club cannot “link” up stray team members. These rosters are guaranteed ONLY IF the players register before July 15th, when registration closes.
Please make sure you enter the correct information during registration. Age Group Coordinators organize teams using the information you provide, taking into consideration team size and age group guidelines. Every effort will be made to accommodate coach and friend requests you have listed, but requests cannot be guaranteed. We cannot make changes to rosters once teams are finalized.
Absolutely! Recreation Soccer is designed for all skill levels, from beginners to experienced players, focusing on learning, fun, and skill development.
The program emphasizes participation, teamwork, sportsmanship, and personal growth over competition, with “no scores / no standings” formats for younger players.
Early bird registration for the full year runs May 1–June 15, with standard registration open until July 15. Spring-only registration opens January 1 and closes February 15.
No refunds are available after registration. Exceptions may apply for extreme circumstances, such as league cancellations due to unforeseen events.
Don’t worry about uniform sizes. Uniforms are pre-ordered in bundles and the coach will distribute them as needed.
We have discussed this extensively. It is not logistical. We cannot collect 2200 uniforms at the end of the season, or wash and organize and account for missing ones the next season.
Uniforms pieces get lost. They are worn by younger players to school, to the store, and on vacations. They are worn and stained. We do not want to offer that to new players next year. We discussed a “Jr. Jazz” style jersey. Still not logistical. They are thick and hot when worn outside during games.
We would have to print numbers and 2 logos on both sides. More expensive than a full uniform set. We ARE looking into collecting jerseys and shorts to offer as a donation to those who want to travel internationally and share the sport of soccer with kids in other countries. Look for info!
You will be contacted by your coach in mid-August for the fall season and mid-March for spring. If you have not heard from your coach by then, please email your age group coordinator.
Yes, but coach, friend and elementary school area requests will be honored only if space is available on the requested team. Uniforms may not be available for late registrations until Spring season.
