Competition Soccer

Copper Mountain Soccer Logo

At Copper Mountain Soccer® (CMS), we are dedicated to helping young players grow – physically, mentally, and socially through the game of soccer. Our licensed volunteer coaches guide players with expertise and passion, continually advancing their own knowledge to provide the tools and confidence players need to excel both on the field and in life.

CMS is committed to developing more than just skilled athletes. We cultivate problem-solving, communication, and leadership abilities while fostering a positive self-image and strong character. Graduates of CMS leave with a solid soccer foundation and the qualities that prepare them to succeed as well-rounded, contributing members of society. By combining top-level training with personal development, CMS strives to earn respect nationally while shaping the next generation of exceptional players and leaders.

Copper Mountain Soccer® Competitive Soccer is a year-round program for players ready to take their game to the next level. Guided by licensed coaches, players develop technical skills, tactical awareness, and teamwork while competing in challenging games and tournaments. Teams train together consistently, building cohesion, confidence, and resilience on and off the field.

Players also have opportunities to be scouted by college coaches and attend high-profile tournaments. CMS coaches support players with training, guidance, and connections to help them reach their full potential—both in soccer and in life.

What is the commitment?

The commitment required for competition soccer is necessary for a team in order to allow players who do wish to move beyond a seasonal recreational commitment to move forward and be challenged. In order for a team to be successful, they must train and compete together. Therefore, the commitment is to a year-round program with a focus on both the fall and spring seasons:

  1. When placed on the roster, each player commits to being at all games unless they are ill, injured or have a major and unavoidable family event, etc. Tournament play can be an exception assuming the team can get a guest player.
  2. While players may play multiple sports which may create occasional conflicts, players recognize that the commitment to the team is for at least two weekly soccer practices throughout the year along with games each week while in season.

Competition soccer is a year round opportunity for players to train and compete at various levels under the direction of a licensed coach who is capable of coaching the technical and tactical aspects of the game.

The annual Copper Mountain Soccer® (CMS) fee is $480 per player. The fee is broken down on our competition page.

Additional fees are for uniforms, and team specific fees for tournaments (approx. $50 per player per tournament), a winter training venue (one hour one time a week for most teams), and a winter indoor league.

The fee is so low because we passionately believe in offering the most affordable price possible for quality youth soccer training and competition in the State of Utah. Our licensed coaches not only volunteer to coach to help accomplish this, but pledge to continue in their coach education for the benefit of their players and the club.

Maybe. Requests can be made at the time of tryout registration in the “Special Requests/Comments” section, but that decision will ultimately be made by the coaches if it makes sense for the team and the individual players.

Yes. However, if you request a specific coach or coaches when you register for tryouts, then the other coaches may not evaluate your player.

Coaches set their own training times and locations. Teams will generally train twice a week beginning in June, and adjust to once a week during the wintertime when indoors. Upper-level teams may train more frequently.

Fall season games start mid-August and end in late October. Spring season games begin mid-March and end in late May. Schedules are typically published by the state association a few weeks prior to season start. Teams are scheduled for a minimum of 8 games that are played Monday through Saturday.

Teams will be scheduled for 4-5 home games to be played on CMS fields in Riverton and South Jordan, and the other 4-5 games will be away. For our beginning level teams, travel could be from Toole to Park City, and Bluffdale to Salt Lake City. Upper level teams could travel as far north as Logan and as far south as Fillmore.

Like most competition clubs, we use our uniforms for two years.

Absolutely, many CMS players have gone on to play college soccer after graduating high school. Our higher-level teams will attend high-profile tournaments with college scouts in attendance.

Our parents and players will also be educated on creating a player profile as well as highlight reels that will be used to send to college coaches of interest with an invitation to attend tournament games.

Our coaches who have played collegiate soccer, who have made connections over the years, and TOVO affiliated colleges are all resources we use to help players make college teams.
