POSITION SUMMARY
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Coaching & Player Development
Assist the Head Coach in planning and executing practice sessions, drills, and training activities that develop players’ technical skills and enhance their understanding of the game.
Provide constructive feedback, encouragement, and skill-building guidance to players during practices and games.
Lead small groups or full team segments of training as directed by the Head Coach.
Game Support
Support the Head Coach at games, including helping manage substitutions, roster communication, and player positioning.
Help ensure that all players are engaged and playing fairly, and promote positive sportsmanship among players and spectators.
Team Logistics & Safety
Assist with organizing equipment, setting up training fields, and maintaining team supplies.
Report any safety issues or concerns about player welfare to the Head Coach promptly.
Team Culture & Communication
Model respectful and positive behavior, reinforcing club and league values with players, families, and officials.
Communicate clearly with players and their families about schedules, expectations, and updates as directed.
Additional Tasks
Attend team meetings, pre-season organization nights, and required coach education sessions (e.g., SafeSport/Concussion training, and coach certification).
Fulfill other duties as assigned by the Head Coach or Program Director.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
Experience & Skills
Prior experience playing or coaching soccer at any level is preferred.
Strong understanding of basic soccer rules, techniques, and age-appropriate coaching methods.
Ability to motivate, instruct, and interact positively with youth athletes.
Good communication and teamwork skills to work effectively with the Head Coach, volunteers, and families.
Certifications & Training
Willingness to complete required youth sport safety trainings such as SafeSport, concussion awareness, and background screening if mandated by the league or club.
First Aid/CPR certification is a plus, but not required.
Other Requirements
Reliable transportation to practices and games.
A positive attitude and commitment to fostering a welcoming, inclusive environment for all players.
SCHEDULE
Seasonal position aligned with league practices and game schedules.
Typical commitments include weekday evening practices and weekend games; additional meetings or events may be required
